A Jedi is a member of the Jedi Order who practices the ways of the light side of the Force and serves the Republic. The Jedi follow a Code put in place long ago and undergo extensive training to become a Jedi Master. The most well known part of a Jedi's training is the construction of a light saber, which requires a fine attunement to the Force.
History
The Jedi were originally formed from a group of scientists, warriors, and philosophers who met on the planet Tython to study the Force in 25,000 BBY. The Jedi were few in number and despite opportunities for growth have remained so due to conflicts within the ranks, battles, and encounters with dark force users.
