Relevant History For SWTOR
In 13,500,000,000 BBY(Before the Battle of Yavin) the Star Wars Universe began. The gravitational collapse of a large cloud of dust and gas formed the Star Wars Galaxy, which is nearly 100,000 lightyears wide, around 8,500,000,000 years after the Star Wars Universe began. The ancient Sith Civilization began to emerge on the planet of Korriban, and Jedi began to appear by 100,000 BBY. Still, the Jedi Order and the Galactic Republic,created within years of eachother, were not founded until the signing of the Galactic Constitution in 25,000 BBY.
It was not long after the formation of the Jedi Order that controversy began to grow among the Jedi. Many began to convert to the dark side of the Force. This conflict resulted in in the first war between the Jedi, also called the First Great Schism. The Dark Jedi, who were referred to as the Legions of Lettow, were exiled after losing the war. Following this first major Jedi disturbance, a prophecy was predicted of a chosen one who would one day restore balance to the Force.
With the conclusion of the First Great Schism the planet Malastare was colonized by the Republic. The Republic continued to expand its borders until it was disrupted once again. The Second Great Schism among the Jedi took place in 7,000 BBY. This war launched the Galaxy into what was known as the Hundred-Year Darkness. Finally, those dark times were put to an end in 6,900 BBY when the Dark Jedi were once again exiled.
The exiled Dark Jedi fled the reach of the Republic. As the exiles desperately searched for a new planet to call home, they stumbled across the planet Korriban. There they easily were able to impress the native civilization with their Jedi skills and training. Soon the Sith began to follow the ways of the dark side of the Force. The exiled Jedi interbred with the civilization of the Sith. A new, much darker, generation began to emerge on Korriban. These new young, and power hungry, Dark-force users lead in the rise of the Sith Empire.
The Sith Empire was eventually lead to the Republic by two clumsy blockade runners named Gav and Jori Daragon. In 5,000 BBY this error lead to war. As the Sith attacked the Republic in an attempt to destroy it, the Jedi rallied to the aid of the Republic. The Jedi counter attack on the Sith planet of Korriban left the Sith defeated. It was only by the sacrifice of most of his fleet that the Dark Lord Naga Sadow, a leader of the Sith empire, was able to escape the destruction.
The Jedi Order was once again thrown into turmoil in 4,400 BBY. A Jedi named Freedon Nadd succumbed to the dark side of the Force and began to study under the Dark Lord Naga Sadow. Freedon excelled and soon became the ruler of planet Onderon. The rise of Freedon Nadd lead to the Third Great Schism, also called the Vultar Cataclysm, in 4,250 BBY. Order was not re-established on Onderon until 252 years later by the Jedi.
In 3,063 BBY Jedi Revan and Malak lead the Republic against Neo-Crusaders who were attempting to conquer worlds in the Outer Rim. This conflict was known as the Mandalorian Wars. Throughout this time the Jedi Order had forbidden any offensive moves to be taken until the situation was further investigated. Revan and Malak acted in direct defiance of the Order. Revan and Malak disappeared by the end of the Mandalorian Wars. Both became Dark-force users, added the prefix of Darth to their names, and took on the title of Sith Lord. Darth Revan and Darth Malak then attempted to re-create the Sith civilization.
Darth Revan and Darth Malak declared war upon the Republic in 3,959 BBY. The Battle Meditation of Bastila Shan was the only true defense against the Sith Lords. During the war Darth Malak turned on Darth Revan. Darth Revan escaped Darth Malaks attempts on his life and in turn sought his own revenge. The Jedi Civil war was finally concluded with the redemption of Revan, and the destruction of Star Forge. After stability had been found, Revan set out on a mission to investigate rumors of a true Sith threat.
Revan was never heard from again, but after he left the true Sith Civilization made an appearance. The ancient Sith Emperor had managed to prolong his life as he rebuilt the Sith Empire undetected for hundreds of years. After careful calculation and planning the Emperor launched a surprise offensive against the Republic. The attack caught the Republic and the Jedi off guard. The planet of Coruscant was easily overpowered, and the Supreme Chancellor of the Senate was left with no choice but to surrender many outlying star systems with the signing of the Treaty of Coruscant.
With the Jedi Temple on Coruscant destroyed and all faith in the Order lost, the Jedi returned to the homeworld of Tython. The Republic sought to build new defenses and began to train special forces, while the Sith began to recruit the force-sensitive.
